Penninsular War period miniature of a 'veteran' officer with 1st Regt.Foot
Price: £1250
A good quality English school miniature on ivory circ.1810, of a 'veteran' officer with the 1st regt Foot wearing the scarlet coatee with beige facings. Housed in a typical plain gilt Georgian oval, within a blackened paper-mache wall plaque, bearing a gilted brass ring at the top, for attaching to the wall. The officer's silver cross-belt plate is clearly visible, and bears a Georgian crown with central number '1'. The reverse has had the original material backing removed allowing the viewer to see the miniature oval frame mounted into the paper-mache plaque. An old hand written paper set to the back of the minature gives a name of Sheriff, possibly an indication of the officer's name ? Size: Oval size 7cm x 6cm, overall size with wall plaque is 13cm x 11cm.

A very fine quality watercolour portrait dating from approximately 1830. Colours remain bright and unfaded, with just the slightest foxing in evidence to the background. Mounted in a gilt glazed frame. Overall size 10 x 13 inches.

Duke of Wellington hand tinted lithograph by Baxter 1830s

A good quality lithograph of the Duke by Baxter circ: 1830s, nicely hand tinted at the time, and still retained within its original Victorian frame (with unopened back finishing). The lithograph has been given a good spacious mount, and the Duke is seen as the Elder Statesman wearing full court uniform. Size 19cm x 15cm.
Provenance: Originally from the Derek Saunders Waterloo Museum at Ramsgate, and after the museum closed down, this and the other artifacts were sold through the well-known auction house, Wallis & Wallis in the 1990s

This miniature is complete with a nicely interwoven hair-back. Provenance: Sold by miniature specialist, Cynthia Walmsley in 2005.
